MESSAGE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICER

Welcome to www.vldhealth.org; the online home of the City of Vineland Department of Health.

The Health Department works to promote, protect, and improve the health of all Vineland residents. We have a staff of dedicated professionals that strive to meet the varied needs of those in the community through a wide range of programs and activities.

The Vineland Health Department is community-health oriented. Disease prevention, health services and health promotion activities protect the entire community, not just individuals. We also realize that the health department cannot possibly do all of this on our own. Creating a healthier Vineland requires the collaboration and support of our many public
health partners. What we do collectively touches the lives of everyone in the community.

The Public Health Division, which includes the Environmental Health, Public Health Nursing and Health Education/Promotion programs, plays a vital role in these efforts, collaborating with our county health department, regional medical center, community health center, practitioners, and numerous community and civic agencies to:

1.) raise public health awareness of local health issues;

2.) track health trends so that resources can be focused on the most important concerns of our residents;

3.) stop the spread of disease through education and early detection;

4.) to provide services/activities/programs that help our residents stay well.

The mission of the Vineland Health Department is to prevent disease and to protect and promote the health and safety of our residents to be the local voice of public health.

We will accomplish our mission through an integrated public health system, in an atmosphere of community and political support, with leadership and adequate resources to work and communicate effectively.

Our mission to improve and enhance the health of our residents, will be achieved by applying the "10 Essential Public Health Services" in an organized, interdisciplinary system that addresses the physical, mental and environmental concerns of the community.
